Dermatitis artefacta is an artefactual condition in which skin lesions with variable morphological features are solely produced or inflicted by the patient's own actions. This usually occurs as a result or manifestation of a psychological problem. It is more common in women than in men. Patients deny having done lesions because they aim sensory gains such as attention and affection. Early and accurate diagnosis by dermatologic and psychiatric approaches is important and thus unnecessary studies and treatment processes can be prevented.

Here we report a case presented with a pyoderma gangrenosum like necrotic ulcer but it was noticed that the lesion was formed by the patient and eventually diagnosed as dermatitis artefacta.
