The aim of this retrospective study is to evaluate the accompanying symptoms and results of the Dizziness Handicap Inventory of patients presenting with complaint of vertigo. The data of 400 patients pesenting with complaint of vertigo were evaluated in this study. Symptoms, vestibular and hearing test results, Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI) results were recorded. The patients were divided into two groups according to the vestibular test results. The first group consisted of 241 patients who have positive vestibular test results. The second group consisted of 159 patients who have normal vestibular test results.
The number of patients with imbalance, tinnitus, hearing loss, aural fullness, nausea or vomiting, noises disturbance, headache and systemic diseases showed statistically significantly difference between two groups. The DHI emotional, functional, physical and total scores showed statistically significantly difference between two groups. As a result, associated symptoms and to determine the level of disability depends on the vertigo with BDEA may lead the way in terms of comprehensive vestibular assessment and follow up of patients presenting with complaint of vertigo Keywords: Vertigo, vestibular test, symptom, handicap

Bu retrospektif çalışmanın amacı, baş dönmesi şikayeti ile başvuran hastalarda eşlik eden semptomların ve Baş Dönmesi Engellilik Anketi sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesidir.
Çalışmada, baş dönmesi şikayeti ile başvuran 400 hastanın verileri değerlendirilmiştir. Semptomlar, vestibüler ve işitme testlerinin sonucu ve Baş Dönmesi Engellilik Anketi (BDEA) sonuçları kaydedilmiştir. Vestibüler test bulgularına göre hastalar 2 gruba ayrılmıştır. Birinci gruba, pozitif vestibüler test bulgusu olan 241 hasta dahil edilmiştir. İkinci gruba vestibüler test bulguları normal elde edilen 159 hasta alınmıştır. Dengesizlik, çınlama, işitme kaybı, kulakta dolgunluk, bulantı ya da kusma ve yüksek sesten rahatsızlık, sistemik hastalık ve baş ağrısının görüldüğü hasta sayısı, gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde farklılık göstermiştir (p<0.05). BDEA; emosyonel, fiziksel, fonksiyonel alt skorları ve total skorlarının tümünde iki grup arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark elde edilmiştir (p<0.05). Sonuç olarak; baş dönmesi şikayeti ile başvuran hastalarda; eşlik eden semptomların ve BDEA ile baş dönmesine bağlı engellilik düzeyinin saptanması,kapsamlı vestibüler değerlendirme ve takip açısından yol gösterici olabilir.
