Infectious mononucleosis is the primary Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) infection seen in the healty host. Infectious mononucleosis is an acute infectious disease occurring predominantly in older children and young adults. Disease may begin with an atypical clinical picture such as: skin manifestatations or hepatitis. Rarely, a chronic active infection may improve with EBV.
