Prolonged hypothyroidism results in hiperplasia of the thyrotropin secreting cells of the hypophysis. The symptoms of the hypothyroidism may accompany the symptoms of hyperprolactinomia and visual loss. ‹t is not easy to distinguish hypophyseal hyperplasia from TSH secreting hypophsis adenomas.
