Mixt connective tissue disease is a distinct rheumatic disease. Mixt connective tissue disease should be considered as an important syndrome in any patient who presents with heterogeneous clinical presentation and who do not fit into any definite criteria of systemic connective tissue disorders. The characteristic features of mixt connective tissue disease are: 1) the presence of anti-U1 snRNP (small nuclear ribonucleoprotein)
antibody with high titers in sera, 2) an increased frequency of HLA-DR 4 in the leukocytes, and 3) death due to pulmonary hypertension (1). The disease is primarly localized on joints, muscles and skin; however there are not widely used diagnostic criteria. We wish to point out the importance of immunologic approach to the aetiology of lymphadenitis in a middle-aged patient, as well as the therapeutical dilemmas in the treatment of the disease.
