The prevelance of tuberculosis has been increasing in any age and during perinatal period as well. In this study we presented a case for whom tuberculosis could not be excluded in differential diagnosis despite he was given prophylaxis for gestational
tuberculosis infection: A 3,5-month-old infant was admitted to our clinic with high fever, respiratory distress and failure to thrieve. Thorax and abdominal radiologic imagings
proved multiple hypointense consolidations in spleen and lungs in addition to enlargement of lymph nodes. Cystic fibrosis, malignancy and histiocytosis were excluded in diagnosis
by sweat test, bone marrow aspiration and other laboratory work-up. In the ligh of the history, clinical and radiological evaluation, the patient was considered as perinatal tuberculosis, since his mother was cured for gestational tuberculosis in the second month of her pregnancy. As he had received isoniazid after birth, we concluded that the progression of the disease to disseminated infection was due to inadequate prophylaxis
with single drug.
